What is concrete?

A concrete slab is a very popular structural element for buildings. A concrete slab is the thick, flat, and horizontal concrete layer, which can be utilized as a floor or even as roofing. Concrete slabs can be utilized to create the foundation of homes in a variety of ways, whether on the soil or supporting the foundation.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete installation can be difficult if you don’t have the right knowledge and skills. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors adheres to the strict procedure for installing concrete slabs.

Our top priority is safety when we work on concrete projects. Before we begin any work, we make sure that we're properly equipped with safety equipment. We are equipped with gloves with long sleeves, long pants and rubber boots. All these protect us from concrete splatters, that could affect our overall health and well-being.

The steps below must be strictly followed as part of the process.

Step 1: Onsite Preparation

We follow the exact procedure no matter the size of concrete slab project we're working on. In all cases, we clean up the area. We clean up and get rid of garbage so we can begin with a clean slate. We make sure that all the materials are prepared to be used in the process of preparation. We plan the arrival of materials prior to the actual work. This allows us to complete the work on time.

Step 2: Form Concrete Forms using Steel and Reinforce Concrete Slabs with Steel

Once the site is cleaned, we will install concrete forms with wire mesh. Concrete forms act as a solid blockage to keep the concrete mix in its place. It forces concrete mix to take a particular form or shape. For concrete reinforcement, we use reinforced concrete using the help of rebar. This helps ensure stronger concrete surfaces.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

We use a concrete truck to facilitate the process. Concrete materials can be mixed more effectively with a concrete truck. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. But in most of our projects mixing concrete, a mixer is essential.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

Once we are done mixing concrete and forming the slab, the concrete is then poured into the molds. To prevent air pockets, we take care to pour the mix of concrete. Air pockets can be caused due to a lack of mortar being used in the spaces around the aggregate. Concrete is created by spreading the mix evenly throughout the shape.
